Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Details

Street Fighter is coming up on its 25th anniversary. In celebration, Capcom has announced several events and a couple special collector’s edition items to commemorate the occasion.

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set

  • Experience Past and Present Street Fighter Games: Gamers get a snapshot of Street Fighter with four critically-acclaimed games that represent important chapters in Street Fighter history. The games are: Street Fighter X Tekken with all character and costume swap DLC, Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition with all costume DLC, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
  • Light-up Ryu Statue: Standing 8 inches tall, the highly detailed Ryu statue features the iconic character in mid- Shoryuken with flames that light up from below. You also get a replica of Ryu’s belt.
  • Blu-Ray Video Set: The exclusive Blu-Ray two-disc set includes a documentary that highlights the profound influence the franchise has had on fans – and vice versa – throughout the years. The collection of videos also includes Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV Anime movies as well as all episodes of the Street Fighter animated series and Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
  • Soundtrack: 11 discs worth of Street Fighter music spanning the past 25 years. Two of the discs include remixes and fan-created music inspired by past Street Fighter games.
  • Art Book: The 64-page art book pays tribute to Street Fighter fans from all over the world and includes fan pieces submitted by professional and aspiring artists alike.
  • Certificate of Authenticity.

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament

Capcom has set up a series of global Street Fighter tournaments that will include over $500,000 cash, non-cash prizes, and amenities.

Here are tournament dates and locations:

  • July 28-29 in Austin, TX
  • August 11-12 in the NY area (location pending)
  • August 26 in Taipei, Taiwan (location pending)
  • Mid-September in the Tokyo Region, Japan (date and location pending)
  • September 27-30 in London, England (in conjunction with Eurogamer Expo)
  •  October 13-14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil (in conjunction with Brazil Game Show)
  • October 27-28 in Los Angeles, CA
  • October 31 – November 4 in Paris, France (in conjunction with Paris Games Week)
  • December 8 Finals in San Francisco, CA

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Group Art Exhibit

As a way of continually honoring and promoting the many different aspects of Street Fighter culture, Capcom has partnered with creative collective, iam8bit, to produce a special Street Fighter 25th Anniversary group art exhibition. The gallery features artwork from over 50 renowned artists from around the world, and the grand opening will be held in Los Angeles, CA on August 3rd from 7 to 11pm. Admission into the exhibit is free and all ages are welcome, and will be on display until August 19th. The opening extravaganza will also feature several one-night only installations, including a real-life “Bonus Round” that will literally transport attendees into the game.

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Chess Set

Also recently announced, the Capcom Store is now offering an exclusive, high-quality Street Fighter 25th Anniversary chess set that takes the iconic characters from the Street Fighter franchise and places them into an all-new type of battle. The individually-numbered chess sets are limited to 5000, and contain highly-detailed silver and pewter resin pieces that are stored in protective custom slots inside the wood case. A certificate of authenticity is included, and the entire set retails for $299.95 and will be available in August 2012.
