The Last of Us PS4 was always in development

The Last of Us Remastered PS Store

Naughty Dog has pulled a fast one on us, my fellow gamers. When the PlayStation 4 was announced there was a strong demand by fans of the game to see The Last of Us available for the new Sony system, but Naughty Dog kept saying there were no plans on that happening. Yesterday we learned that The Last of Us was indeed coming to the system in a Remastered version of the game, but now, we know that this wasn’t a last minute decision.

In a recent interview Naughty Dog’s co-President Evan Wells revealed that a PS4 version of The Last of Us was always a project that was going to happen.

“We had a lot of people on the forums saying ‘can I play this on PlayStation 4?’ We had actually been anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version],” he explained. “We weren’t sure if it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamouring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it.”

“The graphic fidelity has been turned up to eleven. We’ve got 1080p, we’re pushing the draw distances further, we’re creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, better shadows.”
