It is perhaps fate that the two largest publishers will forever be locked into revealing the next installments of their big first-person military shooters at around the same time.

Activision and Infinity Ward lowered the veil on their next Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on Monday, and later this week, Friday, May 6th, Electronic Arts and DICE will debut the next Battlefield.

Starting at 1:00pm Pacific (4:00pm Eastern), EA will be live streaming their world premier event that will feature Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and Lead Producer Aleksander Grondal talking the past, present and the future of Battlefield.

Battlefield has been around since 2002 when the first game, Battlefield 1942, made a splash with its large scale multiplayer maps and drivable vehicles. The series has since made jumps to contemporary military settings (Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4), futuristic military settings (Battlefield 2142), and even one that had players take on the battle between cops and robbers (Battlefield: Hardline).

Those links are to reviews should you like to take a look at what Glenn thought of where Battlefield has been.

Where will the series go next? Join us and the rest of our community on the PS Nation channel May 6th at 4:00pm Eastern/1:00pm Pacific. We’ll be hosting the stream so come, we’ll watch it together.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.
