Things don’t always go as planned.

In the case of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, unplanned issues with the distribution of the game in the United States and Canada,” mean that the game won’t be out on PS4 June 10th (or May 27th as previously announced). Rather, publisher Bigben Interactive and developer Frogwares have set a new nebulous release date of summer 2016.

To tide fans over during the slightly longer wait, a new story trailer is out now which you can watch embedded below.

The Devil’s Daughter is the eighth game in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series of adventure games by Frogwares and the first to be published by Bigben. Previous releases such as Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment, which Josh reviewed here, were published by Focus Home Interactive.

On top of changing publishers, this latest installment itself stars a new, reworked Holmes, a Holmes more open to emotion, a change necessitated by the story revolving around Katelyn Holmes, his daughter.

When he sets off on an investigation, Holmes thinks he is leaving his problems with his daughter behind him. But the darkness of the stories only serves to reflect his mistakes all the more clearly.

Who is he to demand the truth when he can’t speak it to his own daughter? What right does he have to decide the fate of the unlucky when he himself does harm?

Sounds like some good intrigue. We’ll know for sure later this year.

A student of games, I play a bit of everything because I like to see what’s out there. Nothing better than first hand experience when it comes to knowing about games. Current game obsession: Anything MOBA (Paragon, Battleborn, Heroes of the Storm), except, ironically, the most popular ones, LoL and DOTA2.
