Last Week on #DailyPoll – 7/29/16

Last week on Daily Poll, it was mostly about comics thanks to San Diego Comic Con happening last weekend. Let’s see what people had to say about some of the SDCC news and comics in general.

The Wonder Woman and Justice League trailers were two of the bigger things that came out of the weekend, based on what I was seeing on social media. Given the reception to Batman v Superman, DC really had to wow with the trailers so, did they?

Looks like they did. Slightly more people were impressed with the Wonder Woman trailer than the Justice League one but with a pretty small percent saying that both were bad, DC might be in a better spot. But there’s still a while to go until the films actually come out so anything could happen.

Marvel had a lot to show at SDCC. From a new Doctor Strange trailer to announcements about casting in Captain Marvel to trailers for their Netflix shows. Rather than try to pull out separate things, I figured I’d ask about it all.

Marvel looks to be in a good spot too. Only a few of those who responded weren’t interested in any of it and a few who were just “okay” with the announcements. Seems like the next year or so will be pretty good for superhero films, if you’re into that kind of thing.

A quick break from the SDCC stuff to ask about PS+ lineup like I often do. August’s was announced with Yakuza 5 on PS3 and Rebel Galaxy being some of the titles. So, what did Twitter think?

A resounding “meh.” I had figured that getting a full retail game like Yakuza 5 might excite our crowd but evidently not. By comparison, our twitter poll for July’s games was a lot more positive.

Back to the SDCC related stuff. Comic book based games are becoming a big part of video games. With big names like Batman getting tons of games and plenty of crossover titles like the Marvel Ultimate Alliance, there are a lot to go around. So, do we need more of them?

I guess we could use some more. Sure, they make a lot of comic book games but they do tend to focus on a lot of the same heroes. Batman alone seems to account for half the comic book games out there and the other half are all DC or Marvel titles with all of the characters. Might be cool to see some games that focus on other heroes exclusively.

And the reverse of Thrusday’s poll. This one doesn’t happen as often but occasionally we’ll see a comic book tie-in like the Last of Us comics that came out to coincide with the game’s release. Is that a thing people want more of?

I guess comic tie-in products don’t do it for a lot of people. I was a little surprised but then it seemed like, over the course of the week, that our Twitter crowd isn’t a huge comic crowd. Game stories should be game stories is what I’m getting from the largest percent of this poll.

That’s all for this week. Check back each weekday on Twitter for a new poll!
