Last Week on #DailyPoll – 11/4/16

Each weekday we post a poll to the PS Nation Twitter account. Anyone can vote in them and I pull together the results once a week into a post like this. Last week was a showdown of similar games.

We start off with Uncharted vs Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider is a classic, which influenced the creation of Uncharted. However, the success of the Uncharted franchise in return lead to a reimagining of Tomb Raider.

Uncharted scores the win here. I’d venture a guess that being a PlayStation exclusive helped it out with our crowd. Tomb Raider is often associated with PlayStation however the most recent title saw timed exclusivity on Xbox.

Two of the biggest FPS franchises of the past decade or so have to be Battlefield and Call of Duty. COD has become the poster child for yearly franchises and Battlefield gives it a run for its money.

Surprisingly, Battlefield gets the win. I had thought that Call of Duty was more popular overall. Perhaps it is, but at last among our crowd Battlefield easily trounced it.

Unlike the previous polls, these two franchises aren’t actually all that alike. Sure, they’re both RPGs but of fairly different styles. Still, I was curious which would win between Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls.

Again, I was a little surprised that Final Fantasy managed to win. It was a very narrow win though, with the JRPG franchise only managing 4 points over the WRPG franchise.

Back to the very similar franchises. In fact, in this case both were created by the same company: Harmonix. However, after they sold the Guitar Hero franchise, they created Rock Band as their replacement.

Guitar Hero gets the win here. I was curious if the over saturation that Activision caused in the market might have hurt them in the poll but clearly not.

Finally, the showdown between the open world franchises. Grand Theft Auto is a juggernaut, and has been constantly selling for years. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed was for several years a yearly franchise always trying to find new gameplay hooks.

I’m not surprised that GTA is more popular. People like their Rockstar games. If anything, I was surprised that AC even managed 25% against the GTA onslaught. Still, this one wasn’t even close.

That’s all for last week. Check Twitter each day for more polls, reviews, and streams.
