Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Gets a Launch Date


Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot could very well be the Dragon Ball game DBZ fans have been waiting years for. Ahead of Tokyo Game Show this week, Bandai Namco announced pre-order details and new story details, including the inclusion of the Majin Buu arc! Players will be able to fill the shoes of the martial arts master and world’s strongest Saiyan Kakarot, more widely known as Son Goku, when Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases in North American territories on January 17, 2020!

Per the Bandai Namco press release,

Developed as the most expansive and accurate retelling of Goku’s life, DRAGON BALL Z :KAKAROT will take players through their favorite DRAGON BALL Z story arcs, meet beloved friends, battle powerful enemies, and bring light to some long-running DRAGON BALL Z mysteries as well. No other game has ever told Goku’s life story in such detail and with such vivid presentation.

Sam Wilkinson, Community Specialist at Bandai Namco Entertainment America, also answered a few questions on the PlayStation Blog. Some of the topics covered included questions about newcomers to Dragon Ball Z, side quests and side stories, the inclusion of the Majin Arc, with the return of fan-favorite Majin Vegeta, and a new character called Bonyu. Finally, the Deluxe, Ultimate, and Collector’s editions were revealed. Pre-ordering the game gets players a chance to challenge former Gunyu-force member, Bonyu, as well as a side quest taking place after Goku returns from Planet Yardrat. For the price of $199.99, the Collector’s Edition comes with an artfully recreated statue depicting Goku and a young Gohan riding the Flying Nimbus cloud flying past one of the many monsters in the Dragon Ball world. It also includes a hardcover artbook and a Steelbook featuring Goku’s 悟/Go symbol.
